E-Bike After-Sales Support: Questions to Ask Before Ordering
Summary
Ask about routine service, system-specific parts and warranty handling before choosing an electric bike or placing a dealer order.

Body

An electric bike purchase includes an ongoing need for service. Before placing an order, find out who can perform routine maintenance, who can diagnose an electrical fault and how replacement parts are identified. These questions matter for one bicycle and become more consequential when a dealer stocks an entire range.

Separate routine parts from system-specific parts

Tires and brake pads may be straightforward to identify once you have the dimensions and part references. Displays, controllers and batteries can be specific to a system or model revision. Ask the supplier for compatible part numbers and a clear process for checking substitutions. A connector that looks the same does not establish compatibility.

Understand how a warranty claim works

Ask which components are covered, how the service period is calculated and which costs are handled by the supplier. Establish the first contact for a claim and what information they need. Save the invoice, frame serial number and service history together so you can find them when a fault occurs.

Give dealers a way to diagnose problems

For a business order, agree on the spare parts to stock, who handles technical questions and what documentation workshops will receive. Use the sample order to see whether the supplied manuals and part references match the bicycle. If a model changes during production, ask the supplier to record the revision so the correct replacement can still be ordered later.
